Amidst the chaos of the Gay Days Watermark issue, another specialty publication (GD2011 Guide), and creating a mini-site with advertising materials for Watermark’s Fire and Ice Weekend I had to create the 2011 St. Pete Pride program.
Another year, another Fashion and Style Issue. One of my most favorite issues. I teamed Watermark and Chrome up again and headed to Ybor City in Tampa at the Don Vincente and shot some Javan Reed designed pieces.
Watermark’s Spirituality issue 2011, featuring an interview with Lady Gaga, an updated calendar section design, and a nifty retro-futuristic/art deco themed list of 101 things to do before you “kick the bucket.”.
As art director for Watermark Media, my main function is to design editorial layouts for the newspaper product. Here’s a selection of some layouts from an ever growing collection of select issues.
I grew up with the mid-to-late 90′s era where digitally colored comic books were standard. I decided to see what would happen when you took an old book and stripped away the vintage coloring techniques and replaced it with something more contemporary.
Since 2007, Watermark Media has been handling St. Pete Pride‘s annual program. These publications are fun reprieve from the complications and challenges of newsprint and allow me to revel in the delights of full bleed and glossy print.
The theme for Orlando’s Come Out With Pride 2010 was “A Pride of Olympian Proportions” and gods and goddesses littered the parade route. Here is a selection of photos taken of the parade.
In 2010, I had the honor of continuing to work with Come Out With Pride with their graphic design needs. The theme for 2010 was “A Pride of Olympian Proportions” and all of their advertising deals with ancient Greek gods and goddesses.
The theme for Orlando’s Come Out With Pride 2009 was “Heroes” and needed their program to reflect that. Comic books have always been a love of mine and I was quite thrilled to dive into that world for the Pride program.
In 2008, I had the distinct pleasure of working my Sue Dyer, mother to Watermark Media Publisher Tom Dyer, with her coffee table book The History of Fashion: A to Z. It was a fun little dive into the world of book design, a nice break dealing with newspaper print and just a lot of fun to produce.
As part of my role as art director at Watermark Media, I have been been able to work on Come Out With Pride‘s program/guide to their annual October event since 2007. This is the program I created for the 2008 event.
Watermark Media‘s big project for 2010 was partnering up with Mark Baker Presents and putting on Stratosphere Party. Stratosphere Party was massive party thrown at Universal Studios during the first weekend in June and was a pretty exciting time.
